Served on Liberty Ship SS Hubert Howe Bancroft as a Wiper, Engine Department. My 2nd ship in a convoy was hit by a German U-Boat. Lost left eye from flying steel from our ship on March 3, 1945 in the North Atlantic. I was 16 years old.
