Enlisted in Navy 23 as Shipfitter 3rd Class. Rose to rank of Lieutenant. Went to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Circa 1937. Contributed in a very significant way to building the base up. Received high marks and awards for Overseas work in repairing damaged ships. Transferred to Newport News Shipyard, Portsmouth, Virginia. Served as Staff Officer until retired on disability because of impaired hearing on March 1, 1947.
