Served in India and Tinian Island with the 58th wing of the 20th Bomber Command. B-29 aircraft were proven in combat from Kharagpur, seventy miles southwest of Calcutta, through forward base in China to bomb Japan. Received Presidential Citation with two oak leaf clusters, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with six battle stars, China-Burma-India Medal, Bismark-Archipelago Medal, Good Conduct Medal and four overseas stripes.
