Served aboard the USS Rutland APA-192. Crew member Higgins boat landing craft. Received the Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, two Bronze Stars, landings at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Boats participated in bringing the first troops onto Japanese soil while the treaty was signed aboard the Missouri.
