In 1943 I took basic training at Fort Des Moines, Iowa and was assigned to the Hospital Library as a Clerk Typist. My overseas orders came through shortly and I was sent to Cheltenham, England to work as a Clerk Typist in the Surgeon General's Office. Returned to U.S. in 1945.
