Activity During WWII

When the war started I was two weeks from being 11 years old. In school, we collected scrap metal and newspapers. We rationed gasoline, sugar, meat and butter (using oleo instead). We had a victory garden and raised our own chickens and eggs. I bought a bond or two. We were living in Jamaica, New York.
