Activity During WWII

Harvard University NROTC from 1939-1943. Commissioned on May 23, 1943. Within 4 days, reported to USS Owen DD-536 in San Francisco. Served in the South Pacific until V-J Day in 1945. Received 11 Campaign and Battle Stars with TF58-2 and 58-3. From Tarawa to Tokyo. Successively, as Torpedo Gunnery Division Officer, Navigation Officer and Executive Officer (Destroyer Division 104, Destroyer Squadron 52) from December 1945 to July 1946. Assistant Professor of Naval Science and Tactics, Princeton University NROTC. Remained in Naval Reserve (active) until 1975.
