As part of the 3rd Army outfit the 738th Field Artillery Battalion fired 28,363 rounds of ammunition, which amounted to 6,680,000 pounds of steel and TNT rained on the enemy. The 738th was the first 8-inch howitzer unit in the U.S. Army. When stopped in Czechoslovakia, had advanced more then 1,700 miles against the enemy.
