Activity During WWII

September 1943, entered V-5 program, naval aviation training. Transferred and became Line Officer at Notre Dame, March 1945. Then went back into aviation training. Went to war in Europe and then June 1945 in South Pacific. Washed out of pilot training in July 1945. Attended advanced line officer training in Miami. September 1945 sent to the South Pacific. Picked up USS LST-275. Duties as assistant to 1st Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Assistant Engineer Officer and Engineer Officer. Sailed throughout the South Pacific, picking up rolling stock from many different islands. February 1946, took 400 Japanese war prisoners from Wellington, New Zealand back home to Japan. Discharged from active duty September 1946.
