Trained at Desert Training Center, Indio, California; went to Europe on the Queen Mary; served in the Third Army in XX Corps; marched 600 miles in 30 days, one of the fastest sustained marches in history, from the hedgerows of Normandy, to meeting the Russians in Austria May 9, 1945 with Major General Walton H. Walker and General George S. Patton. Came home with the 10th Armored and discharged at Fort Bliss; received 4 Battle Stars and Bronze Star, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe.
