Volunteered for the draft, June 1943. Shipped out in February 1944 on a Liberty Ship from Port Hueneme to Pearl Harbor. Served on Eniwetok in the Marshall Islands and Tinian in the Marianna Islands building air strips. Helped build the airstrip that the Enola Gay took off from.
