Activity During WWII

Served with the infantry in Alaska where he was in combat with the Japanese. He was then transferred to pilot school with the Army Air Corps in Missoula, Montana. However, due to his Infantry training he was needed in Europe and was removed from Pilot Training and joined the 70th Division known as 'The Trailblazers'. He served in the 274th Infantry Regiment, The 'Battle Axe' Regiment, as a Technician 5th Class, in Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion. His Division landed in Marseilles, France and first saw combat on December 27, 1944. The 70th Division then battled the enemy for 86 continuous days until relieved on March 21, 1945. Then 3 weeks later, they again were put back on the front. They battled through the Siegfried Line, Kreutzberg Ridge and Spicheren, crossed the Saar River and opened the door to the Heart of Germany. Deceased 1993.
