B-24 Flight Commander, on bombing missions from Bari, Italy into Austria and Germany. Shot down into the Adriatic Sea and rescued by a fisherman. Fatal crash into the Apennines Mountains, due to fog. Buried at Nettuno, Italy. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 3 Oak leaf Clusters.
