Enlisted June 17, 1942: Served in 2nd Air Force as bombardier in training, Ellington Field, Houston, Texas, and Midland army air base in Texas; survived airplane crash on takeoff at Midland air base; then served as classification specialist at Salt Lake Army Air base in Utah and Lincoln, Nebraska Army Air base. lectured B-17 and B-24 aircraft crews, officers and non-commissioned officers; received honorable discharge after WWII ended at Camp Fannin, Texas on February 10, 1946.
