Activity During WWII

Enlisted at 17 1/2, boot camp in Great Lakes. Assigned to Gunnery School as Crew Captain in Mississippi. Served on USS Hiram S. Maxim and sailed to Persian Gulf where ship was torpedoed in Mediterranean. Lifeboats took crew to Algiers, later went to Invasion of France (D-Day).
