After serving 4 years in the Marine Corps before WWII, my father was drafted and served most of his tour of duty at Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas. He trained many young men in small arms. He attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant toward war's end.
