Activity During WWII

Served 1943 to 1946. LST 533. Participated in the Normandy Invasion, Omaha Beach, June 1944. One of a group of Navy officers and servicemen on loan to the U.S. Army to operate small boats used for the Rhine Crossing in Germany. Ferried troops, vehicles, guns, ammunition, supplies and casualties. Also built pontoon bridges. Ardennes, Rhine River Patrols. Awarded the U.S. Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, three battle stars for Rhine Crossing, Ardennes, Central Europe. Member of the Naval Reserve 1946 to 1964. Received the Navy Unit Citation, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Star and the Naval Reserve Medal.
