Enlisted December 14, 1942; honorably discharged January 23, 1946. Received 2 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge and WWII Victory Medal. Was chosen to attend Army Specialized Training Program at City College of New York after basic training. Also selected to Shrivenham American University in England after the war. First night of combat was December 24, 1945 in Ardennes, Battle of the Bulge.
