Activity During WWII

Entered active duty, September 16, 1940 as corporal with Company F, 114th Infantry, 44th Division (National Guard) Officer Candidate School (OCS) as Staff sergeant at Fort Benning, Georgia. Graduated 2nd Lieutenant August 1942, Joined 26th Infantry Division in Florida. Went overseas as replacement officer and joined anti-tank Company at Anzio, Italy March 1944. Fought in 7 Campaigns: Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Alsace, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Awards and Decorations: Combat Infantryman badge, silver star, purple heart, bronze star with Cluster, presidential unit citation, French fourragere. Discharged 1st Lieutenant, January 1946. Joined Army Reserves and attained Rank of Lieutenant Colonel when retired in 1960 U.S. Army Reserve.
