Activity During WWII

Received the Silver Star for gallantry in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Nueva Vizcaya, Luzon, Philippines Islands, May 7, 1945. His company was moving over open terrain when it received intense enemy machine gun and rifle fire. The company, by short, rapid moves, attempted to move to the right of the terrain that afforded more natural protection. During the movement, several men were killed and wounded. Bilotti twice, with the complete disregard for his personal safety, crawled over open terrain placing heavy fire on the enemy in order that equipment, weapons and ammunition, discarded by the wounded and dead, might be retrieved. During the Japanese counter-attack, when the leader of his machine gun squad was killed, Bilotti took command and directed the squad in such a manner that its fire was a prime factor in repulsing the attack.
