Activity During WWII

Inducted as a Private, March 20, 1941. Corporal, July 11, 1941. Sergeant, April 14, 1942. Officer Candidate School (OCS), Fort Benning, October 1942. 2nd Lieutenant, Camp Wheeler, Macon, Georgia, March 1, 1943; Company Commander, March 19th; First Lieutenant August 17th. Battalion Executive Officer, December 1943. Officers Advanced Course, Fort Benning, December 1943 to March 1944. Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, December. Sailed to France on USS America IX-41. Assigned to 7th Army as Company Commander, then to 3rd Army as a Battalion Executive Officer. Received orders from Eisenhower's office to report to 15th Infantry as Headquarters Company Commander, 15th Infantry Regiment. Volunteered to serve as Regimental Supply Officer during the last few months in Germany before returning to U.S. for discharge.
