Aboard the USS Borie, sustained damage in battle when fought and rammed the German sub U-405, sinking the sub. The Borie received severe damage, forcing the crew to abandon her and was finally sunk by U.S. Navy carrier 11/2/43. 27 men were lost in stormy 29 degree waters. The Borie was awarded Presidential Citation with the other ships of Task Force 2114.
