Enlisted August 1941. Worked two years as line chief doing maintenance on Flying Fortresses. Volunteered for combat. Served with 8th Air Force, in England; Engineer-Top-Turret gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress. Participated in bombing missions over Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Bremen and others. Awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
