Activity During WWII

Drafted July 8th 1944. Sent to Camp Wolters, Mineral Springs, Texas to join Company B, 14th Infantry Regiment. Completed basic training for infantry rifleman. Sent to Leyte in the Philippines in January 1945. Became a member of the 149th Battalion. One of 4 battalions of the Cyclone Division composed of the National Guard of Kentucky. Served combat duty on the island of Luzon. Promoted to Corporal while acting as Company Clerk for Company I. Promoted to Staff Sergeant. Honorably Discharged on August 19th 1946 as a Technical Sergeant. In Company G, 149th Infantry.
