Served with the U.S. Army, Company B, 395th Infantry Regiment, 99th Division. Inducted on July 10, 1944; Anti-Aircraft Training at Fort Bliss, Texas to Advanced Infantry Training in Paris, Texas. To the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater in February 1945 as replacement in the 99th Division. Crossed the Remagen Bridge on March 12, 1945; wounded on April 9, 1945; enemy shrapnel in Karlsruhe, Germany; disability discharged.
