Served on the USS O'Bannon DD-450 from 1942 to 1945. Participated in the battle of Guadalcanal and others throughout the Solomon Islands. Also escorted the USS Missouri into Tokyo Bay for the signing of the surrender. Received the Presidential Unit Citation and 17 battle stars.
