Operated dairy and grain farm at Travilah, Maryland. Local Air Raid Warden and Draft Board member. Began to teach high school when staffing became critical. Produced maximum amounts of milk, grains, beef, chicken, pork and sheep after school day ended. Managed to expand operations and production even though assistance from others was very limited. Conserved materials, equipment and supplies to the greatest extent possible. Contributed many pounds of scrap parts from self and other locations to recycling efforts.
