Activity During WWII

Entered service with the U.S. Army Air Corps on 3 April, 1943. After training, shipped out in December, 1943 on the USS Susan B. Anthony for England. Spent 1944 and first half of 1945 at Base Air Depot #1 'Burtonwood'; keeping B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, B-25 and B-26 Marauder aircraft in the air. Departed England via C-47 aircraft for Germany in August, 1945. Stationed in Furth, Germany with the 31st and 155th Photo Reconnaissance Squadrons, serving as ground crew for A-26, P-51 and P-38 aircraft. Departed for home on 25 February, 1946 from La Havre, France and arrived in New York City port on 7 March. Earned European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Discharged as Staff Sergeant at Camp Gordon, Georgia on 11 March, 1946.
