Activity During WWII

Served in the 409th Bomb Squadron. Shot down on June 21, 1944 in the Berlin Raid. Machine gunned while jumping out of a plane. Stayed in a basement for 4 days without medical treatment. Lost left arm due to gangrene. POW for 11 months, then replanted in POW exchange. Sent home in 1945.
