Served in the 6th Armored Division, 603rd Tank Destroyer 1st Platoon, Reconnaissance; platoon sergeant, battlefield commander to 2nd Lieutenant. Captured 37 prisoners along with a fellow soldier. He and and a sergeant led detonator wires on a bridge across Werra River, so the division could cross.
