Served in the 83rd Infantry Division, 329th Infantry Regiment, Headquarters Company. Landed Omaha Beach, June 19, 1944. Relieved the 101st Airborne; Hedgerow fighting Normandy, Loire Valley. Captured 20,000 Germans. September 24, division moved into Luxembourg. December, division moved north to the Huertgen Forest, Germany, to Duren. December 26, out of Germany, across Holland, into Belgium, Ardennes, The Battle of the Bulge; Rhine, took Dusseldorf Neuss, first to lower Rhine, went 215 miles to Elbe River. The 83rd Division liberated over 75,000 Allied prisoners of war. Awarded the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge. 5 Battle Campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe.
