Served 1942 to 1945. 16 months in North Africa with the 637th Anti-aircraft artillery Battalion with B-17 and B-24 bombers. 16 months in Italy serving with 100th Chemical 4 2 Mortar Battalion. Completed 183 consecutive days of combat in Italy. Participated in the Rome-Arno, the Apennines and Po Valley Campaigns. Suffered from Trench Foot in Bologna 1944, spending 9 weeks in hospital. Upon being released from hospital was sent to R Camp for 2 weeks of reconditioning before returning to outfit for final days of combat in Italy resulting in the surrender of the Germany army.
