Was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Helped fortify the Island. Departed December 6, 1942 and went to Guadalcanal to fight the Japanese. Suffered from Malaria 3 times, plus other injuries. From there went to New Georgia. Served overseas 4 years, 5 months, 2 days.
