Activity During WWII

Served April 9, 1942 to October 16, 1945. Drove a 2 1/2 ton truck for the 177th Engineer Battalion in the Aleutian Islands. Transported road materials such as sand, gravel and dirt used in construction of new roads at a military base in the Aleutian Islands. Checked and serviced trucks and made minor repairs. On industrial furlough from July 15, 1945 to September 12, 1945, working as a brakeman on the Union Pacific at Rawlins, Wyoming. Civilian occupations include Locomotive Fireman with the North Carolina and Saint Louis Railroad Company at Nashville, Tennessee from 1941 to April 1942 before entering the Army.
