Activity During WWII

Called into active duty June 1941 with other Reservists. Executive Officer on YP-95 in 1942. Became Commanding Officer after attending Submarine Chasing Training Center in Miami in 1943, reported to USS Eisele DE-34 and proceeded to Tarawa as Executive Officer in 1944. Became Commanding Officer, took part in four operations through Okinawa; his unit shot down five kamikaze planes. He was awarded the Silver Star for Okinawa Operation.
