Combat Infantry, parachutist, demolition specialist. Served with the 101st Airborne Division. Battles and Campaigns in Rhineland, Central Europe. Captured during the Battle of the Bulge near Bastogne, Belgium on December 25, 1944. Imprisoned in Stalag 12A near Limberg, Germany. Escaped on March 8, 1945. Made it back to U.S. forces near Koblenz about 6 days later. Awarded the Purple Heart, American Theatre Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Sharpshooter Badge.
