Pilot, 92nd Bomb group, 8th Air Force. After a bombing run over Germany, the plane ran out of gas. Was able to glide back and landed safely in the English Channel. Later, another plane was shot up badly, wing and tail severely damaged. Though seriously wounded, managed to get the plane back to England and crash landed.
