Activity During WWII

Bombardier, on 6th mission with 508th Squadron, 351st Bomb Group in 'Piccadilly Commando', a B-17 Flying Fortress, was forced to ditch in English Channel waters December 31, 1943. Captured and interned by Germans, Stalag Luft I until May 1945. Returned as Master Sergeant. Served as 1st Sergeant with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron as a Senior commissioned officer in Headquarters Air, providing ground command, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Received Air Medal from Lieutenant General William E. Kepner, Commander.
