Activity During WWII

He distinguished himself by Gallantry in action. On April 20, 1945 Company II, 417th Infantry Regiment was ambushed by the enemy in the vicinity of Chemnitz, Germany. Concentrations of heavy machine gun fire caused considerable casualties among the men. Disregarding the dangers of enemy fire, he went to the aid of a wounded comrade. While helping another soldier, he was wounded and subsequently reported missing in action.
