Activity During WWII

Commander of Company C - 1880th Engineer Av. Battalion. Built air strips in Burma and China and built the Ledo Rd. all by himself. Received the Bronze Star while in Burma for saving Sergeant Anthony Totar who became buried alive in a mud slide on the Lido Road; dug out with bare hands, while others ran for help. Drafted in July 1942, basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. Thirty days later sent to Officer's Candidate School, Fort Belvoir. Left the service in December 1945 as a Major; Norfolk, Virginia.
