With great pride, worked from June 1943 to June 1944 in a shell plant in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Had to wear coveralls, steel-capped shoes and goggles to protect eyes from any flying steel pieces while filing down the threads. Also had to inspect the shells for any flaws. Developed strong muscles from handling thousands of shells.
