Served in combat in every major European Theater of Operation. His battles included: Tunisia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns, ending in Czechoslovakia. As a result of these campaigns, he earned the American Defense Service Medal, The European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with Bronze Arrowhead, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart Medal (earned as a result of shrapnel wounds). Later was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the American Defense Service Medal with attachments. Was honorably discharged from service on August 22, 1945.
