Activity During WWII

June 1943 enlisted in U.S. Army Air Corps. June 1943 sent to Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Missouri for basic training. September 1943 Michigan State College, East Lansing, Michigan for studies. November 1943 Classification Center, San Antonio, Texas. December 1943 Ellington Field, Houston, Texas for pre-flight training. February 1944 Laredo, Texas for Gunnery School. April 1944 Big Springs, Texas for bombardier school. September 1944 commissioned 2nd Lieutenant. September 1944 assigned a crew at Plant Park, Tampa, Florida. September 1944 Gulfport, Mississippi, B-17 training. January 1945 flew overseas in a new B-17 stationed at Airfield in Paddington, England. April 14, 1945 shot down. POW South of Breman, Germany. May 1945 liberated by British Army Troops, sent to Camp Lucky Strike in France under American Command. A few weeks later, shipped home on a Liberty Ship out of France. Landed in Newport News, Virginia. Then to Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Separated from Air Corps at Fort Devens, October 1945.
