Was working for contractors on December 7, 1941, Pacific Naval Air Base, Sangley Port Cavite Navy Yard, Philippines. Retreated to Bataan with the U.S. Armed Forces. Fought at Mariveles, Bataan. Escaped to Corregidor when Bataan fell. Was on the beach when Corregidor was invaded and surrendered to the Japanese. Captured and held as a prisoner of war with the rest of the U.S. Armed Forces. Taken to Sendai, Japan. Liberated on August 14, 1945.
