Activity During WWII

Stationed at Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Machine gun school and served in the 21st Regiment, 3rd Battalion, K Company, 3rd Division. He was aboard the troop ship USS Anne Arundel AP-76 harbored outside of Hawaii. His ship sailed with several other ships in the Pacific and was attacked by submarines; 4 of the troop ships sank, his ship was engaged in battle. The USS Anne Arundel AP-76 was anchored outside of Iwo Jima before it was sent to Guam where Marines on board were given training for Operation Olympic which was the invasion of Japan, which they predicted would be a deadly battle. When the bomb was dropped the invasion was cancelled.
