Activity During WWII

Disbursing Officer, 141st Finance Section, Port Finance Officer, 16th Major Port, Bristol, England and Le Havre, France from 1943 to 1946. Embarked on an LST on Utah Beach, Normandy with 19 million French Francs on August 20, 1944. Then to Sainte-Mere-Eglise and across Normandy behind the Germans. Billeted in Le Havre where 100% of the harbor and 70% of the city was destroyed. Administered to the troops and vessels nearby, from September 17, 1945 to March 1946, when he was loaned to Headquarters, U.S. Army Air Force in Wiesbaden, Germany as Finance Officer to the largest Air Force Office in Europe. WWII citations: Bronze Star, Good Conduct, American Defense Service, American Campaign, WWII Victory, Army of Occupation.
