Activity During WWII

Served in the 128th Infantry, Company K, 32nd Division. Active duty October 1940. Fought in New Guinea. As a Sergeant, he twice took command of his Platoon; once when the Lieutenant was shot and killed, and again when another Lieutenant was shot. Given a Field Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and later attended Officer Candidate School (OCS). Awarded the Silver Star.
