Wounded on Christmas Eve; returned to the front in Belgium. Surrounded but broke through; was wounded and woke up in England. Arrived in the States on the aircraft carrier the USS Wasp. Earned the Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifleman, Purple Heart and the European Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars.
