Served with the 252nd Artillery Battalion, Armored Division. Landed in England when Germans were bombing; landed on Omaha Beach. His group followed General Patton's 3rd Army with combat battles inside the German border, then transferred to the 9th Army to Spearhead, to the Elbe River on the way to rescue a Jewish Camp.
