Appointed as Nurse, U.S. Naval Reserve on December 1, 1943 and proceeded to active duty on January 5, 1944. Reported for active duty to the U.S. Naval Hospital, Unit 2, Tuberculosis Ward at Corona, California. February 7, 1945 she and Signalman 1st Class Harold Everett Miller were married in uniform in Riverside, California while he was on leave from the Pacific Theater of War. She was transferred to the U.S. Naval Hospital in Seattle, Washington on April 5, 1945. Honorably discharged June 11, 1945.
